We are delighted to introduce our District of Choice (DOC) Application process, an inviting pathway for families dedicated to securing quality and excellent education. Please read the information below before proceeding to fill out the application.

DOC Application Guidelines:

Individual Applications: A separate DOC application is required for each student within a family requesting a transfer under the DOC program. You can apply anytime during the application window; when you apply, it does not determine priority.

Application Closes: December 31, 2024 .

Age Requirements: If you are applying for either Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten, please know that your child must meet the age requirement according to California State law.

Transitional Kindergarten: Students who turn 4 on or before September 1, 2025, are eligible to attend Transitional Kindergarten. If your student is admitted into our Transitional Kindergarten program, they will be placed in Kindergarten for Fall 2026.

Kindergarten: Your student must turn five by September 1, 2025 .
Admission Process:
Admission is contingent upon space availability and aligns with the school board’s projections for the upcoming academic year. A transparent lottery system is employed when applications outnumber available spaces, ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all applicants. The DOC program requires us to consider the applicant''s priority under these categories.
Priority Levels:

Siblings of students currently enrolled in Oak Park schools

Foster/homeless children or youth

Students eligible for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch program .

Children of active-duty military personnel .
No Need for District Release:
Students admitted under the District of Choice (DOC) program are exempted from obtaining a release from their district of residence, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free transition for both parents and students.
